Last summer I had the privilege of going to Managua, Nicaragua with Rich, Christian and 21 other youth and adults from our church. It was such an amazing life-changing experience for me. I love working with the kids at our church and I was very excited to be doing VBS with 2 different churches in Nicaragua. Rich & I were in charge of the music team. Our group learned 3 songs in Spanish so we could teach them to the kids. We also purchased a Cedarmont kids Spanish DVD to play while we taught the songs!! They absolutely loved singing!! We were blessed by one of the groups singing a song to us that they had learned in Sunday school. We also had one group of little kids that stood up in the wooden pews and would stomp their feet and yell for another song!!! They absolutely LOVE singing!!
The kids of Nicargua were so loving and friendly. They have very little in terms of material possessions. Many of them live in small shanties with several other family members. Nicaragua is the poorest Spanish speaking country in the world. The people of Nicaragua have experienced so much pain, tragedy an political unrest. However, in the midst of all this devastation, the hope of Jesus' message is being shared. Bruce & Laura Edgar are ABWE missionaries to Nicaragua and they run CentroABEM. It is the 160 acre facility that hosts American missons teams, camps for Nicaraguan children and training classes for Nicaraguan pastors. They hosted our group last summer and have such a love for the Nicaraguan people. They have planted 22 new churches since 2007.
This summer I am excited about the opportunity for Rich & I to return to Nicaragua and take Noah with us. .
