We started our summer with a trip to Seneca Lake Baptist Assembly Kid's Kamp in Senecaville, OH. It was an awesome week with the theme "Warriors for Christ". Madison & Tyler were campers and loved every minute of camp. Well, except for all of the walking. Seneca is a large camp with lots of hills!!
Rich, Christian & Noah were in charge of rec also known as Color Wars!! And they did an amazing job!! So amazing that they've been invited back for next year and the boys were asked to help with rec at a VBS in Dayton. Many people who have been going to camp for years commented on how fun they made the color wars this year.
They were so good, that as soon as Rich entered the dining hall, teams would start chanting their color cheers trying to get spirit points. I am very proud of my boys!! They served the kids with excellence!!
I had the privilege of being a Bible Learning Leader for the 3rd year in a row. I love helping kids apply what they've learned from the Bible to their own lives. The stories of Gideon, Nehemiah & Deborah are full of so many lessons for kids and adults. Great lessons about being warriors for Christ in our everday lives. I love seeing a room full of kids so enthralled with stories from the Bible.
One of the special times of the week for me was getting to pray with kids at the end of worship. One little girl that I got to pray with asked me "How do you know when God speaks to you?" She had gotten saved last year, but was having doubts. She then said "I just felt something inside me telling me to come pray with someone"
Another little girl wanted me to pray for her dealing with the sadness of losing her mom to a heart attack 3 years ago. She was having such a good time at camp and didn't want the sadness to take away the fun. She was 10 years old. I can't imagine dealing with such a tragic thing at her young age.
One thing that I was reminded of at this year's camp is that behind the face of every child there's a story. Sometimes that story is a tragic one that can only be survived through the love of Jesus.
