I came across this quote the other day,
"It is not a trip or a vacation, it is a second life."
That's how I feel about my travel adventures. I love my working solo mom life. I love being the chaos coordinator and the calendar keeper for my kids. I love taking care of them and supporting them in all of their activities. However, I love exploring new places and seeing other parts of the world. I am fortunate to have an amazing work perk of free flight benefits.
Those benefits have allowed me to see the Eiffel Tower, the Empire State Building, Central Park, River Street and Forsyth Park, the Sears Tower, the Magnificent Mile and the Grand Canyon. I've enjoyed lazy days on the beach and making fun memories with my kids and extended family. I've gone on girls trips, graduation trips, family vacations and mental health getaways.
I love meeting people in other cities and realizing that the world is so much bigger than the city that I live in. The world is so much bigger than me and my problems. Seeing how other people live can help me not be so self absorbed.
As I venture through these places, I love taking photographs of the sights. These photos capture moments in time that might be forgotten otherwise.
For me travel isn't about escaping my "crazy life". I travel so that life doesn't escape me. It can be easy to get so busy with "making a living" that we ignore living our life. We can get stuck in the routine of work, chores and sleep. And before we know it our life is over. I don't want to miss out on the adventures. So I plan to keep on travelling every chance I get. Why should I just live one life when I can live two?!?!
